Strategy articles are still few and far between given the youth of FCM. That said, tips and tricks are trickling in on the BGG FCM Strategy Forum.
- Brett MacDonald lays out the current top strategies to help get you started in his “So you want to be a food chain magnate? Frame work for 4 player strategies.”
Seth Logan discusses pricing wars in his “Price Wars — How to Survive and Thrive.”
Zachary Homrighaus, Ragnar Krempel, and others raise some excellent beginner’s strategy tips in the BoardGameGeek thread, “FCM Would Greatly Benefit from a Detailed Game Report by 3/4 Experienced Players”
There is much discussion on opening strategies. Strongest in opinion (that I have seen) is Patrick McGregor’s “First Hiring Action, an In-Depth Break Down.” While his take is limited in scope (due to limited experience with mostly two-player games), it presents an opinionated and detailed examination of the issue — and I hope the subsequent discussion will reveal further insight.
Patrick McGregor is at it again with an article on turn order: “You Should Always Go Second.... Unless You Shouldn’t.... An In Depth Turn Order Analysis.” As with his first article, be sure to read the follow-up comments and take everything with a grain of salt in these still early days of strategy development.
- While light on strategy, the episode of Heavy Cardboard on FCM is worthwhile: “Heavy Cardboard Episode 35 — Food Chain Magnate”
